Classic cornflowers are deep blue plants that grow upright and produce many double and semi-double flowers that are 1 to 1.5 inches wide. They thrive in cool temperatures and are also called cornflower, garden cornflower, and bachelor's buttons. The petals are edible and can be used to decorate desserts or add color to salads. Their flavor is mild and slightly floral.
